Panel & Service Upgrades

in Lancaster & York, Pa

An outdated or undersized panel doesn't just cause inconvenience, it limits what your home can safely handle. Rainier Electric replaces panels and upgrades service capacity across Lancaster County, York County, and the surrounding South Central PA area. We assess what you actually need, and get it done cleanly.

You'll hear from us within 24–48 hours, and most often within the hour. Every job is licensed, insured, and done to code.

Panel Replacements

If your panel is tripping breakers regularly, still uses fuses instead of breakers, or just can't keep up with what your home demands now, it's time for a replacement. We swap it out, bring everything up to code, and make sure it's built to handle what you actually use and not just what the home was wired for decades ago.

Common signs you need a panel replacement:

  • Breakers trip frequently, even under normal use

  • Your home still has a fuse box

  • The panel is 25+ years old

  • Burning smell, buzzing, or warmth near the panel

  • You're planning a major addition like an EV charger, hot tub, or generator

If you notice burning smells or warmth near your panel, shut the power off at the main breaker and call us. That's not a wait-and-see situation.

Service Upgrades

A service upgrade increases the amount of power coming into your home from the utility — typically from 100 amps to 200 amps. Older homes especially weren't built to handle today's electrical demand, between EV chargers, central air, electronics, and modern appliances. We'll tell you straight whether you need a service upgrade, a panel replacement, or both.

Subpanels & Meter Work

Adding a workshop, finishing a basement, or expanding your home? A subpanel gives you the extra capacity without overloading your main panel. We also handle meter socket replacements and meter-main combo installations when your setup calls for it.

Permits & Inspections

When a job calls for permitting, we'll take care of it. We pull the permits, coordinate any inspections, and keep the process simple on your end.

What to Expect

You'll get a clear quote before we start. We coordinate the power shutoff so your day is disrupted as little as possible, and we walk you through the finished work before we leave. Clean work, straight answers, no surprises.
